Helpful information regarding the Physician Payment Sunshine Act Reporting Obligations

The Physician Payment Sunshine Provision, also known as the “Sunshine Act,” was enacted in August 2013. As a part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the provision requires health care companies, including dental suppliers, to report some forms of payment and gifts to practitioners.

Patterson Dental and other dental distributors must report certain interactions between dentists and branch offices, representatives and marketing programs that are defined as payments under the Sunshine Act and related regulations. The Department of Health and Human Services will list these reported payments on a public website.

For more detailed information about the Sunshine Act and what types of payments much be reported, see Sunshine Act FAQ’s for Patterson Customers.
